~Humility~

Down in the green and shady bed
A modest violet grew
Its stalk was bent, it hung its head,
As if to hide from view.

And yet it was a lovely flower,
It's color bright and fair.
It might have graced a rosy bower,
Instead of hiding there.

Yet there it was content to bloom,
In modest tints arrayed,
And there it spreads its sweet perfume,
Within the silent shade.

Then let me to the valley go,
This pretty flower to see,
That I may also learn to grow,
In sweet humility.
~Jane Taylor "The Violet"

To God Be the Glory!

Great things He has done, so loved He the world that he gave us His son...

Who yielded His life an atonement for sin, that opened the life gate that all may go in...

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the Earth hear His voice,
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice,
Oh come to the Father through Jesus the Son, and give Him the glory great things he has done!

This Side of the Cross...

Here's a poem I wrote for Resurrection Day last year (It's set to the tune,
'Amazing Grace':

This side of the the cross,
Grows brighter still,
While walking along,
The way;
In my Savior's arms,
I'm safely calm,
It's here I'll choose
To stay.

This side of the cross,
Though filled with grief,
Is sweet and laced with light;
I'll forever keep,
My Savior's grace,
And joy within,
My sight.

This side of the cross,
Has many snags,
But my strength will always
lie;
In He who died,
And took my place,
So I will never,
Die.

This side of the cross,
A narrow road,
Is old and worn,
With love;
From many who,
Laid down their load,
To seek a home above.

This side of the cross,
Will end one day,
When faith shall end,
In sight,
I'll know the Christ,
Who made the way,
To clear my dark,
To light.

This side of the cross,
Praise God's name,
He showed us how,
To love;
And showed the ones,
Who live in pain,
Of His eternal,
Love.

" Be alert, stand firm in the faith, be brave and strong. Your every action must be done with love." 1 Corinthians 16:13

"In Everything...

Present your requests to God." Philippians 4:6

What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry,
Everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All becasue we do not carry,
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
In His arms he'll take and shield thee;
Thou wilt find a solace there.

He Leadeth Me

"He leadeth me! O blessed thought!
O words with heavenly comfort fraught!
Whate're I do, Where'er I be,
still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me.
He Leadeth me, He leadeth me,
by His own hand He leadeth me,
His faithful foll'wer I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me."
This is such a comforting song.
" In Your unfailing love You will lead the people
You have redeemed." Exodus 15:13
