Bluegrass Festival Fun!

This past weekend, Saturday and Sunday afternoon, we went to the 5th annual Ryan Holladay Bluegrass Festival!! We've been to his 1st and 4th one before. Ryan has been playing the banjo since he was 4 and played at the Grand Ol'e Opry at 5. Since then, he's been to Japan, and played with most of the top bluegrass performers, including, Ricky Scaggs, Earl Scruggs, Chris Thile, Sierra Hull, and many more. He had some pretty big names at his festival this year, Dailey and Vincent, The Tony Rice Unit, and The travelin' McCourys. He's named the West Tennessee Mandolin and banjo champion, and is one of the top ten guitarists in the nation.
Anyway, it's always fun, and motivational to go to bluegrass festivals and open jams. We met a young lady who plays the fiddle yesterday, she doesn't live very far from us, and we're going to enter the Holladay Fiddler's Jamboree in April 2010, Lord willing!! I thought I would share what I've been doin' this weekend. Me and my sister, Grace, who plays mandolin, can't wait to start really jammin' together.

It's a Slow Fade.....

I thought I would do a post I did when I first started blogging. It's such an awesome song, please, read the words carefully.

Be careful little eyes what you see,
It's the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings,
Be careful little feet where you go,
For it's the little feet behind you that are sure to follow...
It's a slow fade when you give yourself away,
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to grey,
Thoughts invade, choices made, a price will be paid,
When you give yourself away,
People never crumble in a day,
It's a slow fade, It's a slow fade.

Be careful little ears what you hear,
When flattery leads to compromise, the end is always near,
Be careful little lips what you say,
For empty words and promises lead broken hearts astray...
The journey from your mind to your hands,
Is shorter than you're thinking,
Be careful if you think you stand,
You might just be sinking...
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid,
When you give yourself away,
People never crumble in a day,
Daddies never crumble in a day,
Families never crumble in a day.

Oh be careful little eyes what you see,
Oh be careful little eyes what you see,
For the Father up above is looking down in love,
So be careful little eyes what you see.
Song by: Casting Crowns.

I recently watched a beautiful movie called, "To Be One". If any of you have ever heard of it, or watched it, please drop a comment and tell me what you thought about it. Purity is a marvelous, God given gift that I think should be held close, saved, and cherished. So many young girls have lost sight of this precious gift. This movie about three couples' journey through remaining pure, and their courtships.
Blessings,

Amazing Grace How Sweet the Sound....

Amazing Grace,
How sweet the sound,
That Saved a wretch,
Like me,
I once was lost,
But now i'm found,
Was blind but now I see.

This song was written by John Newton.
John Newton was influential in William Wilberforce's life.
This movie is about how William Wilberforce helped abolish the
slave trade in England.

I saw this movie when it first came out. I've seen it three or four others times after it came out. It is a GREAT movie and historical too. For those who don't know, i'm a BIG his-story, fan.

Any Ideas for names???

Personality- Tries to be big, even though he's the runt.

Personality- Very dainty, even though she's the ONLY girl.

This one already has the name, 'louie' (loo-ee)
Personality- Fat, pretty much lazy, likes to sit in the corner.

Personality- Adorable! The most out going kitten. He likes to
Jump side ways and play with shoe laces, pant legs, and fingers.

This one already has the name, 'Lancealot'
Personality- Easy- going, likes to wrestle. Gives up easily, a perfect
gentleman.

Does anybody have some good names for some of these cute little kittens?
They're all about 3-4 weeks old.

Happy Late Birthday Sister # 2!!!...1st egg!...'taters and cobbler

Happy Birthday A.G.W.!!! My little sister turns 12!!
This is the muscadine cobbler I made. Muscadines are
one of the best wild southern fruit you'll find.
( I'll post the recipe later!)

Creamed 'taters with dill from our garden.

The first egg we found from the hens we raised
from chicks. ( Actually, it's not their first egg, we
found egg shells all under a tree they roost in with
the guineas. Yes, they think they're guineas.)

Love you Sis.!!!!
Five of my favorite things about A #2:
* Her quick wit
* The way she called me, "Sashes" for so many years
(She couldn't say my name)
* The way she laughes
* Her love for animals, bugs, and the outdoors.
* Her whistling...24/7
-Have a great week!

Going to the Fair....

Well, here in a little while we're going to our county fair! It's not too far from here so Daddy is going to come home from work at regular time and we're all going together.
I've been working on writing a speech for a youth speaker's contest in April (2010). My topic is, " What does my commitment to Christ cost?". Hmmmm..... there's a lot you could do with this one. Anyhoo, I'm pretty much enjoying school this year. I LOVE history, Bible, and I think I'm going to like economics, and my foreign language. (Do NOT like math)

Here's a song chorus me and my sister sang at our 5th Sunday 'sangin', at church:

In my robe of white, I will fly away,
To that home so fair, meet my Jesus there,
It'll be so grand when I get to that land,
In my robe of white I will fly away.
